Experiment #1 part 2 Timer one records how long it takes the needle prick to reach the brain from the arm. Here it says it took .1 seconds or one tenth of a second. Once the signal from the arm prick is in the brain, timer two starts timing to see how long it takes for the person to become aware that her arm has been pricked, and for to say Ouch! The timer says .4 seconds or almost one half of a second. So - Even after there was a nerve signal in the brain from the arm, it took the person 3 times longer to become aware she had been pricked! Why does it take a signal, already in the brain, 3 times longer to cause awareness than it takes that signal to go all the way from the arm to the brain?
